Commercial

A high-rise commercial tower featuring automated terraces that shift to optimize solar exposure.

In the dense urban fabric of Singapore, the Kinetic Sky Garden proposes a new typology for the tropical skyscraper. The building functions as a living organism, utilizing a series of automated, rotating garden terraces that respond to the sun’s trajectory. These “green lungs” are not merely aesthetic; they provide natural cross-ventilation to the office cores and reduce the solar heat gain on the glass facade by nearly 40%.

The structural challenge lay in the precision engineering of the mechanical pivots, which allow for the slow, silent rotation of thousands of tons of soil and vegetation. For the occupants, the experience is one of constant evolution—the view from their desk changes slightly throughout the day as the greenery moves to capture the light, effectively dissolving the boundary between the workplace and the natural world.
