Timber Colony is a pioneer in mass-timber construction, standing as one of Vancouver’s most ambitious residential projects to date. Utilizing Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) for the primary structure, the project sequestered over 2,000 tons of carbon, making it one of the most sustainable high-density developments in the country. The design features a modular “pixelated” facade that provides every apartment with a private, recessed balcony.
The biophilic benefits of the exposed wood interiors contribute to the psychological well-being of the residents, creating a warm, organic contrast to the glass-and-steel skyline. By using prefabricated components manufactured off-site, the construction timeline was reduced by five months, significantly lowering the impact on the surrounding urban neighborhood during the assembly phase.
